Sexual Abuse is about Abuse, not Sex

A lot of people assume that rape, molestation and incest are about sex and seduction, but they aren't.

All three forms of sexual abuse are about abuse, not sex.  It is not about being sexually aroused, it's about power, manipulation and humiliation.  "I am able to overpower you and make you do what I want."  Many rapists don't even recognize their victims' faces when they see them in court.  One rapist in Florida attacked a nun in full habit.  What is seductive about that???  Rape is about forcing someone to do something degrading against their will.  It's about power.  It's about humiliating the other person.  It's about hatred.  It's not about sex.

Chilhood sexual abuse is also not about sex.  Pedophiles aren't attracted to children because they are sexually enticing.  Pedophiles are predators preying on a weaker, smaller child.  They are attracted to children because children can be manipulated and intimidated into doing their bidding.  It's important to realize this.  So many adults who were molested as children blame themselves for "seducing" the adult.  Sometimes the pedophile tells the child that they have seduced them.  It's not unusual for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse to tell me that when they were children they told Mom that Dad was molesting them and Mom accused them of seducing Dad.  This is simply asinine.  A five year old child cannot "seduce" an adult.
